How to add an FAQ section to your Shopify store

An FAQ answers the questions you get by email every week: shipping times, returns, sizing, care. On the home page or a product page, it saves you replies and helps people buy.

Updated October 10, 2026. Steps checked on the Dawn and Horizon themes.

Do it yourself in the theme editor

Dawn

  1. Open Online Store > Themes, click Edit theme and choose the page.
  2. Click Add section > Collapsible content.
  3. Add a Collapsible row for each question: the question as the heading, the answer as the content.
  4. Save.

Horizon

  1. In the theme editor, click Add section > FAQ.
  2. Edit the sample rows: each Accordion row has a heading and its answer.
  3. Add or remove rows and save.

Both themes also let you add question rows inside Product information, for answers about one product.

Where the theme editor falls short

  • Every answer is typed by hand in each place it appears.
  • There are no groups or search, which matters once you have more than a handful of questions.
  • Showing the same FAQ on several pages means copying it to each one.
  • If a short list of questions is all you need, the theme editor does the job well.

Or ask Yef

Yef is an AI developer built for Shopify themes, and you don’t need any technical skills to use it. You write the change in plain words and see what it will do, and Yef applies it to a draft of your store that you try before anything goes live.

You write

Add an FAQ section to the home page with our 8 most common questions, grouped into Shipping, Returns and Sizing, in our fonts and colors.

You get

An FAQ with your questions grouped by topic, styled like your store and still editable from the theme editor. You try it on a draft before it goes live.

Yef is invite-only during the beta. Join the waitlist and you’ll get an invite at your email when there’s a spot.

Questions

Where should an FAQ go?

Questions people ask before buying, like shipping and returns, work well on the home page and on product pages. Longer help content fits a separate FAQ page.

Does an FAQ help SEO?

It helps shoppers more than search engines. Google no longer shows FAQ answers as rich results for stores, so write it for the people reading your store.
